Alken's sire *Ganges' show career culminated with the U.S. Reserve National Champion Senior Breeding Stallion title. *Ganges also holds the distinction of being the Monogramm son chosen to represent the kuhailan type for the Polish breeding program.

Alken is line bred to Algonkina, one of the greatest Polish mares of Janow Podlaski. Algonkina was the best *Pietuszok daughter and founded a whole family of National Champions including Algeria, *Aloes, *Algomej and so forth.

Dam of Alken is Alkina by *Algomej (Celebes x Algonkina) x Bint Algoa (*Eukaliptus x *Algoa by Czort x Algonkina). Bint Algoa was an exquisite *Eukaliptus daughter and an excellent mover. *Algoa was the dam of *Aloes, Polish National Champion Stallion and maternal sire of *Ganges
